I just did a full xml export of my website and tried to import it. All content was messed up because my wordpress used Visual Composer and all content is therefor littered with [vc...] shortcodes. I can see that this is not webhooks responsibility, but I think it is a very common tool and on import they should be filtered out I think, because it's too much to do manually.
More importantly all of my portfolio items are nowhere to be found. In the xml there are present as items with <![CDATA[portfolio]]>. After the import I see lots of stuff in "articles" but it contains a lot of empty "Auto Draft" items plus some what look like traces of posts but nothing with useful content.
Am I missing something maybe?

The Wordpress import functionality didn't get too much love. It is ample for the most basic imports (no CPTs, custom fields, etc.), but that's about it, IME.
Unless your site is huge, I suggest just copying/pasting content as necessary.

Ok. Maybe you can borrow ideas / code from contentful's wordpress import. It seems to give good results.
