Is there any possible way to display certain content on the front end to admin only?

No, but if you don't link to it and ask search engines not to index those pages then you can link to private pages from the control panel (obviously not for sensitive date).

Many thanks budparr
But if for instance, I have a content type named "people" and I self host the website, would I have a chance to use basic password protection to a folder as you can do in a .htaccess file, to protect mysite.com/people?

No, not really. You can't have any server-side logic hosting with the standard WH setup. You could build your site locally and push the build folder to a server where you have those capabilities, but then you'd be defeating the purpose of the WH web-based editor.

I actually do this for "staging" on my own servers. I leave the "wh serve" grunt task running and my NGINX document root pointing to the WH build folder.
The only other piece of the puzzle is a rewrite rule for images -- you have to proxy to your production site, similar to the local proxy in place (and of course pay for the hosting.)
