Specifically, I have installed Zurb Foundation under /bower_components/foundation/ and want to reference the foundation js file at /bower_components/foundation/js/foundation.js.
I'd like to simply reference the /bower_components/foundation/js/foundation.js path, but it seems like it is "not found" during runtime.

You can add a
copy task to your Gruntfile to automatically copy the required bower assets into your static directory. The following is something I have in a project of mine.

@LtSquigs suggests changing your bower settings to make
/static/bower_components your bower install directory. Or something shorter if you want. Personally I like keeping
/static somewhat clean, but that would be an easy solution that you don't have to maintain like the copy task.

Cool, I think copying seems like a good method. I'll try this out later, once I fix some other bugs.
Would you recommend the same method in terms of copying all scss files into the same /scss/ directory, so that we only need to watch the /scss/ directory for compiling to css?
I'm currently having trouble watching two different directories containing scss, so copying might be the solution...

We worked this out in IRC.
